Republicans everywhere will need a fresh pair of pants tonight.

Apparently Obama IS the Messiah, because he has answered Republican prayers and picked Joe Biden to be his Veep. Republicans everywhere are peeing themselves with excitement.

Whatever Biden's merits, he's got two huge minuses for Obama. First, Biden's depth of experience makes Obama look like Dan Quayle Lite. Any questions about Obama's readiness won't be quelled by having a running mate who is far more qualified for the job - it will look like the wrong name has been listed first on all the campaign signs. And second, Biden just doesn't know when stop talking. Biden needs to have Walter Sobchak follow him around, constantly telling him, "Shut the fuck up, Joey."

Obama should have picked Tim Kaine. Kaine would have been credible enough without making Obama look so wet behind the ears.

Now the ball is back in McCain's court. It's time to see if he can screw up his Veep choice worse than Obama did. I'd say it's even money at the moment.

I luv ya Outis but YOU ARE WRONG! Yes Joe can be verbose, but he can control it too. He's not afraid to disagree and express that and that is a good thing here - we don't need anymore groupthink. Tim Kaine is a good guy but he is not known outside VA and needs more experience too.

The other thing about Biden, he is well liked and respected in this tri-county area (PA, NJ & DE), his son is DE's AG on his way to Iraq, and Biden has NEVER forgotten his poor background (coal crackers from upstate PA).

Biden himself remarked about Obama's experience on Meet the Press when he was still running for pres - stating that Obama has come a long way, had been earning respect on both sides of the aisle, that even Republicans were impress with his abilities and intelligence.

I think Joe B will surprise you - and pleasantly!

I'm willing to bet you eat those words! This morning I've already heard several quotes from Biden this morning that were at least as hard on Obama as anything McCain has said.

Biden has NEVER forgotten his poor background.

Perhaps not. But I'm seeing arial shots of his family COMPOUND right now. It should be easy for him to count the number of houses he owns as they're all on one big piece of property. He's become very rich as a Senator.

coal crackers from upstate PA

Is that Biden's backbround, or Neil Kinnock's? ;)

Yeah you're probably right. When it comes down to it Veep nominees don't matter, LBJ excepted. Bentson DESTROYED Quayle back in 1988 and it didn't mean a thing.

And luv ya right back, AB! I look forward to seeing you this fall.

And it's too late for Biden to shut up - he's already given the Elephants a mountain of material.

The "compound" you are seeing on TV is really not big and was purchased for around $60k in the day. He only has one home that he has traveled back and forth to daily since becoming a Senator. Greensville is a part of Wilmington (Delaware is a bit weird with community names that are actually sections of cities - spent a lot of time in those areas with my mother when she was an Interior Decorator [drapes & curtains]). It is a middle class section of some larger homes owned by many Wilmington middle class workers and is a mixed neighborhood. Something I bet you did not know.

He has not become wealthy, he's actually one of the poorer members of congress, only 2 years ago his net worth was estimated at less than $500,000.

And yes, Biden is a "master of gaffs" and has said lots of stuff. But who of us does not mispeak or make poor word choices now and then. But Delawarians love him for his bluntness and honesty, and the fact that he doesn't put on airs, he isn't phony, puts out his own trash (well until today, now the Secret Service will do it). And he only owns 1 house :-D

He is well respected here in the tri-state area and is even called the "3rd Senator from PA", and while he has local critics, even they admit he has done a great deal for this area.
