What was he thinking?

Obama, last week:

The Times of London, this week:

THOUSANDS of Chinese farmers face ruin because their water has been cut off to guarantee supplies to the Olympics in Beijing, and officials are now trying to cover up a grotesque scandal of blunders, lies and repression.

In the capital, foreign dignitaries have admired millions of flowers in bloom and lush, well-watered greens around its famous sights. But just 90 minutes south by train, peasants are hacking at the dry earth as their crops wilt, their money runs out and the work of generations gives way to despair, debt and, in a few cases, suicide.

In between these two Chinas stands a cordon of roadblocks and hundreds of security agents deployed to make sure that the one never sees the other.
My question is this: Does Obama really think the USA needs to emulate China or is he simply that uninformed? Perhaps he's just really impressed by fancy facades.

H/Ts to Rush Limbaugh & Dave Schuler.

Rush Limbaugh - now I know you've been tokin the wacky weed dudemeister - are you also taking those happy pills that still don't make Rush happy (or a human being for that matter)

China will evolve in its own time - it cannot turn backward but it will not go forward quickly - it took them 5000 years to get this far and they can be a shallow people (imagine replacing a cute little girl with a big voice with a beauty queen at the opening ceremonies because they deemed her not cute enough!)

China owns us right now - we are in debt to them thanks to the Bush/Cheney lets get rich from oil and haliburton profits while we fuck the American public rectally by borrowing from China/India to pay terrorist to fill our gas guzzling SUV (to me it stands for Stupid Useless Vehicle).

Obama's commentary is merely observational, not totally informative. He's smart enough to know the big picture but with the damage done to our reputation worldwide by heckle and jeckle - the need to seem polite and consiliatory needs to start now for us to "save face" as the Chinese do.

But it's a bad observation. China's infrastructure sucks - although it's better than it was, and it is improving. But Obama was wrong on the facts, and wrong on the implications. (Which is that we need to be more like Communist China.)

As for how much we owe China - That's been going one for 20 years and has nothing to do with any one party or any small set of politicians. The global elite decided to globalize the economies of the world decades ago, and there's been no stopping them.

Also, China's in a much worse situation than we are regarding the amount of US bonds they own. They have earned so many US dollars they can't spend them all. They have lots of needs BUT they can only spend so much at a time. So they have bought the safest securities in the world - US bonds.

But here's the deal. If you owe the bank $10,000, you have a problem. If the US government owes the Chinese government $1,000,000,000,000 the Chinese government has the problem. We're in the same position of financial strength now as we were in the 1980s with the Japanese. Note that we're long past talk of the Japanese owning America and running the world.

And ultimately all talk of wars, and tax policy and all the rest is irrelevant. We've been headed for a hard financial crash since MediCare went into effect. It will (probably sooner than later) wreck the economy. War debts and tax policies are nice surfable waves compared to the tsunami of debt we face from MediCare.

This is somewhat true Outis, however, how many of us will need MediCare in our old age?
